There used to be an honorary consul in Kent.

I'm not sure if she's still the person. If not, contact the embassy in Paris:

In practice, you'll probably have no problem getting a visa on arrival in Bissau.

Good luck.

I know it was a few years ago now, but how did you end up getting a visa? Did you end up getting it through Paris? Any problems?

Hi Sand 100, on second visit in March 2013 we went from Gatwick to Lisbon and onto Osvaldo Vieira International Airport. We were able to get visas on arrival for 35 Euro. This is only for UK nationals and not for EC countries that have a Guinea Bissau embassy. Watch out for the "tip" required by the military on exit from airport - best to have some CFA or Euros ready! If you get to go to the Bijagos Archipeligo, Kere Island run by Laurant Durris and family comes highly recommended.
