Indian tourist travelling to Bangkok for 10 days

Hi,

I am travelling to Thailand for 10 days.

I have some queries which I am sure will be resolved here :

1. Is there any limit of carrying cash in INR at Delhi Customs/Bangkok ?

2. Is it better to shop for LED TV/clothing through credit card/cash?

Regards,

Aman

What is your budget? Star rating can be quiet misleading as you can get a 4 Star for the same price. I have stayed in 5 Star and 4 Star at the same prices on different occasions. I suggest you try Agoda.com. Set filter to 3 Star or 4 Star and Sukhumvit area. You will see plenty of hotels. You can also check the map for hotels around Nana.

You can print your Boarding Pass online after completing Internet Check-In. This is usually available 48 hours prior to date of departure. However, this is not necessary. You can just go to the Indigo check-in counter with your e-ticket.

Please note that there is no such exemption from customs as "one TV per family". It is directly related to sum of value of all items that you bring in. They will ask for your invoices & in any case already have some knowledge of estimated price of commonly imported items (it is an everyday job for them). If you exceed the duty free import allowance, they will charge customs which may render the whole process of saving money by buying from abroad useless. Earlier the value was Rs 25,000. Now it has been increased to Rs 35,000 in this budget. (Please reconfirm on this part). All your queries in this matter are answered on the below official link of Indian Customs.

sir how many electronic things can we get from there and which hotel would be best in reasonable price and which cab service is the best.?

Which is the best place to buy electronics and how much we can get it from there and what all items we can get from there.?

How should we get visa and how much is it going to cost?

Should we go by a package or its better to go directly and book there itself everything?

I would be pleased if you reply this

Firstly I think it's always better and cheaper to book everything yourself. Often the hotels in tour packages are in out of the way places making it difficult and more expensive to get around. You can choose a hotel through one of the hotel booking sites in an area to suit you. Bangkok is easy to get around with the MRT and BTS systems.

What sort of electronics are you looking for?

There are a very great many taxi companies in Bangkok. They should always run on the meter so if you enter a taxi where the driver won't turn on the meter, just get out and take the next one. If you don't know your way around Bangkok it is always helpful to carry a card with the name and address of your hotel in Thai.

Sorry, I don't know how much your visa would cost. Perhaps you could ring the Thai embassy in your home city and ask the question there.

cknp - what sort of guidance are you wanting?

you can find lots of useful info by using this site - things you may not have noticed as a newbie include:

the top questions - upprer right - read through any that seem relevant to your trip

the search box : directly above the original post and at the top of each froum front page (just above the list of threads) If you use it like a google search you will be able to access all previous posts on any topic or key word you enter.. you then read through those which seem relevant

please also remember that the regulars who post on this froum are not travel agents- they are a large group of fellow travellers who offer support and suggestsions. YOu will get much better advice if you ask a specific question which you come to as a result of your own research than by just asking a very broad and general one like you have. Make sure, when you ask your question that you mention interests, budget etc if it relates to things like what to do (after you check out the link in the green bar at the topof the page) or hotels (again there is a link in the top bar)

finally - it is very unwise to post your private email address on a public forum - you may soon find your inbox jammed with spam ads for fake rolex watches and viagra.
