Galaxy Cruise

Does anyone have any experience with Galaxy Cruise? I read that it's a new cruise and I'm wondering if it's worth a try. My hotel quoted me $119/person for 1 night. So it's quite a bit cheaper than the others such as Paloma and Red Dragon.

I have been searching for review of this cruise and haven't been able to find any from actual passengers. So I really appreciate your reply.

A question... did you notice if the various cruises have different routes that they take in Halong Bay? I read somewhere that one of the cruises have some sort of exclusive route to certain more remote islands and I wonder if it's true and if it really makes to difference to the experience.

I did not hear anything about "exclusive" routes and don't see how such a thing would be possible - Halong bay is open water.

As far as I know all the cruises are either for 2 days/1 night (kayaaking, swimming, visiting a cave and the floating villages) or 3 days/2 nights with more kayaaking, swimming, visiting sea caves, private beach BBQ and more floating villages,

Has anybody recently done an overnight cruise with Galaxy? Does it come back to the pier early on the second day?

Any info would be appreciated. We are looking at booking this in late March and hoping for good weather that time of year.

I did end up going on Galaxy in late Nov for an overnight cruise. We arrived back at the dock right after an early lunch (around 12-ish if I remembered correctly).

Unclepatto,

The Galaxy cruise was fine. The itinerary of the various cruises are pretty much the same. I think the quality differs om amenities on the boats. All the meals served on Galaxy were good and plentiful. All drinks were exclusive of the cost though and the staff on the boat prohibited us from buying alcohol from the floating stores on the bay. Our guide was so-so; he acted like he has been doing this forever and just seemed bored most of the time. luckily we had a fun group of fellow passengers and that made the experience better. Considering the lower cost comparing to some of the other cruises, Galaxy was a decent choice.

Hope you will have a good trip!
