Gadong night market

Hi, has anyone been to the night market in Gadong recently, we will be going to have a look when we get to Brunei in early April. I note from a few guide books etc that you have to take the food away, just wondered if anyone had spotted a few chairs and tables to sit at by any chance as I don't really fancy nipping back to the hotel to eat as it will be cold by the time we return.

Thanks

Ken

1. Re: Gadong night market

gadong nite market is primarily a takeaway spot, however some stalls do have chairs and table for their own use, you may request to use them if available. otherwise, next to the nite market is a new open air stall that has not taken-off yet, and some ppl use these empty stalls to enjoy their takeaways...

the tamu selera opposite terrace hotel in bsb is popular for local fare, and has lots of seating. cheers.

Brunei people are hospitable so just ask a chair and they would be more than happy to offer you.

Thanks to both of you, on our short stop over going out of the UK we are staying at the Terrace so that sound great.

We are staying longer on the way home so will give Gadong a try.

Cheers

Hi Ken,

if you're staying over at the Terrace Hotel. There is a night market right opposite the road from the hotel although it is not the Gadong Night Market, they do sell similar food and on the plus side, this night market is a fully permanent set up so there are tables and chairs and tents and all. It's less than 5 mins to walk there plus you get to see a lot of locals in the area. There is also 2 churches nearby the night market which is adjacent to the parking lot. There is quite a bit of history about the churches since they've been in the town area for a long time and are the only two churches in the town area. Well many local attractions can be found nearby the Terrace Hotel which will fulfill and take up your time exploring.

Just to let you know we went to both night markets, plenty of seating at the one close to the Terrace Hotel, loved it good food and cheap too!

The one at Gadong is really for the locals as there is very little seating but still well worth a visit, just about everything was 1$!!

Too cheap really, satay and chichen cooked in front of you and tasted great. do not go in your best cloths though as there is smoke everyhwere and the tasty sauce drips!!

Enjoy.
