Legal medication

Legal medication

The FCO website says some over the counter medication in the UK may be illegal in Turkey. The Turkish embassy website has no info and I can't understand the automated voice on the phone. Does anyone know of a list of can or can't bring medication into Turkey. I don't want to go to jail like that poor British lady in Egypt who had tramadol in her luggage.

Also the lady with the tramadol did have rather a lot. More than for her use for a holiday.....

Depends what you need to bring.

Jen, what do want to bring in would be a help. Yes a lot of the over counter medication is illegal to bring in, but if you have a doctors Perscription then that’s a different matter. Like co codamal is Perscription only but you can buy this in the supermarket in the uk

If the medication is for your own personal use and you have it in the original packaging (ie, with your name on it) and a copy of your prescription, it should be fine.

Cotton Bud, you cannot buy co-codamol in supermarkets in the U.K. it is prescription only. Three members of my family have presciptons for it. 😃

The British Lady in Egypt was bringing in a large quantity and not for her own use.

Let us know what’s medicine you want to bring into Turkey?

Ahh yes. Well, it would help if we knew exactly what the medication is.

If it's something like Strepsils, we're going to be very disappointed. :)

Does anyone on this thread know if Decongestants are OK to take to Turkey (eg Sudafed etc) as these normally contain ephedrine or pseudoephedrine I know they are banned in some countries. I cannot find an online list on the embassy website. Thanks!
