Taxi fare in Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz

Heading to Iran next week, I think that I will be using taxi most of the time as main transportation within the cities I am going to visit,

My question is not not to get ripped off by taxi drivers? How should I haggle down the price to a reasonable fare?

Anyone can let me know who is the normal going fare per km in Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz. I will be using google maps to calculate the distance estimate if the price is reasonable

Thank you

Hi. There are two different ways of getting on a taxi in Iran. One which is called 'Darbast' and in this way you call a vacant taxi and won't share it with anyone else and of course will be more expensive. You should always negotiate the price before you get in as there are no taxi meters. The second way is the shared taxi which is cheaper but then you need to find out if they're heading to your desired destination or you need to change several ones to get there. The price will be around 30-50 cents more or less per kilometer.

Best,

No, this is for the shared taxi. For Darbast taxi you need to negotiate. The price is usually three to five times more than the shared one.

Hi

In Tehran you can install TAP30 or SNAPP application and use it everywhere with a cheap and fixed price.

Also i recommend to use rapid bus (BRT) and metro system in Tehran.

In Tehran last year, I remember that most of the taxis (dabast) I took where in the 200,000 IRR.

I remember this because I would hold up the one green note of 200,000 IRR to the driver and then carefully enunciate my destination and then wait for him to agree.

My experience was that the majority of taxi drivers were very honest.

Dont confuse yourself with shared cars and non official (non yellow) cars.

Dont use BRT and others you are going to get crazy and lost.

As @MhosseinP mentioned, in Tehran you can use applications like Snapp or TAP30 to get a taxi, they work like Uber or Lyft and you won't get ripped off
