International To Domestic Flights

We are traveling to Solomon Islands Next July. We are flying into Honiara and have a 3-4 hour layover before catching the domestic flight to Seghe. I heard that the domestic terminal is separate from the international terminal. I can not find any directions or information on how to get from one terminal to the other. Do you walk, take a taxi, shuttle bus?

You can walk, it's just a few minutes, but the path is bumpy and uneven and it is also very hot to be dragging your suitcase. There are always taxis outside the international terminal, if you catch one make sure to agree on a price first. Get some solomon dollars at the international after you arrive if you plan on spending anything.

There is not much at the domestic terminal, sometimes the little shop is open and you can get a cool drink or a snack, but it really is not a very nice place to spend a few hours. The toilets are often very dirty, or even out of order. You'll know that you're in a 3rd world country! Flights are often early/late or cancelled. Have patience!

Another idea, is to taxi over to the domestic, check in your bags and taxi into town for a meal (the Lime Lounge is nice, as is another newer restaurant, can't remember the name), and get your taxi driver to either wait, or come back for you.

Next option - you can get a VIP service, organised through Terminal Services (not sure of their contact, you'd have to search for it), they will meet you at the international, help you through and bus you to the domestic and help you check in. And will then take you into town and collect you in time for your flight. We use them on the way back when we have a few hours between the domestic and international flights, so we can get some food.

One warning - the ATM and money change counter are both in International Departures, not arrivals. People have been misled into thinking it didn't exist.

There is usually a small cafe open at the back left of Departures. Although I agree about going into town if you have time, if there is less than you anticipated, you will al so find market vendors, often selling barbecue as well as fruit, outside each terminal fence.
