long transit in Jakarta 2

We are a family of three arriving in Jakarta at 8am leaving at 9pm. What can we do in one day? What's best to visit?

Are there any good tours departing from the aiport?

Hi adriana b,

sadly there is no city tour being offered from the airport.

For the day, depending on your interest, you can explore Old Batavia area (few museums, historical buildings and Chinatown nearby) then moving on to a shopping mall to grab a bite and hang around before proceed back to airport. For theme park enthusiast, head to Ancol recreational park in North Jakarta and visit Dunia Fantasi (Fantasy World) or SeaWorld.

Check Jakarta itineraries section for ideas of places to visit (see the right menu).

Alternatively, if you'd like pre-arranged tour, try to contact Gray Line tour grayline.com/Indonesia_-_Jakarta/Glory_Morni… and ask them whether they can pick you up at the airport or you can be picked up at nearby hotel.

If you just want to relax, there are few airport hotels which offer various activities. Check Sheraton Bandara or FM7 Resort Hotel.

Tips: you need to pass through security before entering check-in hall for your onward flight, but the security won't let you in before the check-in time is open. If you bring checked luggage with you, you can use the baggage storage facility available at arrival hall.

adriana b, Hello,

1/ You know a day in JKT without a permanent base ( transit/ stopover passengers) can be a hell of the adventure, especially if your have a small kid/ toddler on board. Please specify your child`s age??????

2/ if your schedule is not confirmed/ paid YET, i strongly recommend to choose SIN ot KUL as stopover, not CGK.

Hello,

thank you for your answer!

My son is 12.

Would you recommend to stay at one of the airport's hotel instead of going to the city?

I paid already for flights. The price was to good to miss.

Going to Ancol theme park might be a good choice if its not raining.. Make sure you will be back at the airport by 7PM..

Hi,

Ancol is a multiple theme park but I would give Dufan (within the Ancol complex) a miss. The heat will get to you.

Try one of the smaller attractions like Gelanggnag Samudera. Its our equivalent of Sea World. There are animal shows throughout the day, usually in a covered arena. It is smaller, more manageable, and still a relatively short cab ride from the airport. IMHO.

Cheers and happy planning.
