Globus 10 Day Japan Tour

We are looking at doing a 10 day Globus tour to Japan. If anyone has used them to do such a trip I would appreciate your comments..good or bad regarding the trip to include hotels, transportation, meals etc.

Thanks

In my previous post I asked about a tour with Globus but we have now decided to try and find something a little more upscale....so if anyone has used a tour company in the $8-10,000 range I would appreciate your comments in regard to the tour. I am also looking at a Tauck tour but that will run about $13,000 for 13 days. Has anyone used them for this tour? We did use them for a tour of Israel/Jordan and were quite pleased.

Here’s a list of tour companies = https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2275.html

Inside Japan is a popular tour company in this forum.

Not to discourage you from an escorted tour, Japan is easy to tour on your own and at your own pace.

A Globus like tour with an escort and a bus works in a Europe setting (we've done it ourselves) but less so in Japan where you are traveling by the most efficient manner which is by train, long and short distance.

By all means, check out the tour companies, but do not overlook DIY and the notion that you can arrive in a Tokyo airport, see sights there, take a train to a place like Kanazawa for a couple of nights, then go to Kyoto for the remainder of your trip, departing from nearby Kansai International Airport. I live in San Diego, and such a routing is very easy to arrange from the west coast....out of LAX or SFO more than likely.

$1,000/day looks expensive IMO. Are they flying you first class to Japan for that too?

Hey I'm not OP but I am planning to do something similar next March. Something like spend 5-6 days in Tokyo then train to Kyoto then return fly from there. What kind of ticket did you buy?

In at Tokyo and out at Osaka = no JR pass is needed. Just purchase individual tickets.
