We have not worked out our itinary yet. But i love unique hotels and great food and luxury or just a reat place that i need to see!!

My husband and I will be traveling in Japan for 2 weeks and i want to attempt to outline this trip on our own.

Does anyone have a list of what are the best Not to be missed places and hotels / spas ( hot water springs) located within japan??

Please give me your list - -we dont mind zig zagging around - -thats half the fun!!

This is way at the other end of the price spectrum, but if you like American 1950's and 1960's popular culture (music and design), you might enjoy Family Inn Fifty's in Osaka. See:

Thank you for all your suggestions - -does anyone have a good place to stop on your way from Tokyo to Kyoto for 1 night? looking for something with a hot spring or cool restaurant or cool little town... Thoughts. this is my tentative itinary so far.

We were so excited to find out that We are going to Tokyo for a friend’s wedding in May 2012

Figured we would leave NY on Thursday May 10 arriving on

Friday may 11th.

Get to hotel and get some food and go to bed.

Sat May 12

just wander Tokyo - easy day- and maybe do and evening tour of Tokyo.

Not sure what to do Sunday. (Husband loves electronics, comics, anima) so i am sure that i can plan the day around that.

Sunday May 13th

evening transfer from city Tokyo hotel to hotel at Tokyo Disney.

Monday 14th wake and hit all the rides that may be closed on the

Tuesday the 15th.

Tuesday do Disney Sea.

Wednesday May 16th go back to whatever we want to see again and Wednesday travel to next hotel between Tokyo and Kyoto. Not sure where we will stop. But i think it would be nice to try and get a hotel with a hot spring?? this is wher ei need a little help. maybe something off the beaten track - -or do we skip the stop and jsut get right to kyoto?

The Wedding is to be held Sunday, May 20th Shrine in Kyoto so we would want to be arriving at Kyoto Friday evening or sat morning.

Monday May 21 or Tuesday May 22

we would leave Kyoto and pick up with a tour if possible.

May Sat 26th we would head back to Tokyo

Where should we stay for 1 night - -needs to be near a good restaurant for our last night and some activity - -would not mind a splurge. for the last night.

and then we would then leave on Sunday May 27th.

This is just the tentative plan for right now; we are not locked into anything other than the wedding. We would also leave NY on Thursday May 17th arrive on Friday May 18th get on the train right away to Kyoto.

I got a suggestion, but be open minded when you read it.

If it is ok with you to sleep 1 night seperateley, go to a capsule hotel.

Its not a spa, and its not "luxury" but its so cool you cant imagine. This is the "Hardcore" of japan experience.

I slept there for 1 night (in Tokyo there are many) and it was so fun. It was comfortable and i hade a great sleep.

Just check it out before you kill me :)

I actually spent only 1 night in capsule hotel in Tokyo so i dont really remember the name. i do know that there were women there. There is a seperate floor just for women and i remember only tourist women and not locals :)
