Brest visa-free program

From Jan 1st, 2018 Brest visa free program (very similar to Grodno one) comes in force.

Now possible to come to Brest and big area around it visafree for 10 days. However, need to contact a BY tour company to get you registered, arrange your travel plan and book accomodation for you (if you come for more than one day).

You can come to Brest by train (Warsaw-Brest, for example), by car via Terespol-Brest, Polowce-Peschatka or Slawatycze-Domachevo crossing and by plane.

Official Brest visafree website with tour company contact info still not available. More details will follow.

It's funny but a domain name similar to the official Grodno page has been registered by some enterprising Brest operator who has cooked up a pretty scary website to welcome guests)

IMO, it is really stupid to force tourists make a hotel booking via a tour operator. Today in the age of booking.com this makes no sense. Hope they will re-consider this strange condition...

While we are waiting for updated rules of accomodation booking as well as for online registration website, let's outline major sights a Brest visa free tourist may see within Brest visafree area.

- Brest fortress and memorial. Huge Soviet memorial complex to heroes of Great Patriotic War (World War II) located within city of Brest

- Kamenets tower. XIII century tower, only in the area, located in a very picturesque place on a hill by the side of a river

- Siakhnovichy ( Siechnowicze ) village. Will be of interest for Polish tourists. Family mansion of Kosciuszko with a park. There is a museum with a room and a monument dedicated to Tadeusz Kosciuszko, national hero of Polish Commonwealth, France and the USA.

8. Re: Brest visa-free program

I heard that the government are considering extending the visa-free scheme to the whole of Belarus by the end of the year. That would be great, and a good money-saver for tourists who want to enter and exit over land. Anybody heard more about this?

Not yet. No official info.

Very likely they will do that step by step. Very little steps.

10. Re: Brest visa-free program

one important point to remember:

according to new rules staying in Brest visa-free for less than 24h is not allowed.

pity, but it will not be possible to come to Brest in the morning (for example, by train from Warsaw) and leave Brest on the same day. Exception is made only for groups of 5 and more people - these can come visafree for a day tour.
