has anyone done this trek ? any feedback ? how easy is it to arrange a guide on the ground at Kumbarlargh ?
You can find guides at the fort. The trek tour is 8 hour long which includes sightseeing.

Where are you staying? The best way to do it is arrange it through your hotel. They will usually provide transport to/from the starting point, as well as a reliable person to go with you, packed snacks, water etc. The terrain is rugged and scenic, but a reliable guide would be an asset particularly since it has not many tourists. If you leave this to your guide hunting skills at the last minute, then you may get stuck with someone who doesn't speak English, and has not led treks before.Edited: 17 October 2018, 01:07
I haven't done this trek but your plans are correct. You need a permit and guide though as you will be in a reserve forest. There are wolves, some leopards, snakes and possibly crocodiles in some of the lakes.
There are threads on Indiamike which will give you useful hints. Seems like the jungle walk is not much more than 10-12 kms and better to start from Kumbhalgarh (downhill).
