Flight to Maumere on August or better fly to Ende

Hello. Nobody knows how the nature is behaving but does someone know if Maumere airport is already open or still closed. I'll arrive Labuan Bajo on 17th of August and would like travel to Maumere as soon as possible. I just need a day/half day in LB to organize trips (Komodo NP, maybe Wae Rebo) after my road trip from Maumere to LB. I planned to book flight to Maumere on 19th of Aug as I want a direct flight. But as I read Maumere airport is closed I'm now trying to decide should I fly to Ende (and I could fly already 1-2 days earlier) and travel from Ende to Maumere by land.

Is there any travel/shared taxi from Ende to Maumere on the afternoon and is it possible to book in advance (day before when I'm in LB) ?

I'm traveling solo, so taxi/pritave cor is not an option. Public buss is another alternative, but takes even longer.

The Lewotobi volcano is active since last December.

However in the last month the airport of Maumere has been closed several times (but also Larantuka and Ende a few times).

Nobody can tell you what the situation will be on August 19. You might be lucky or your flight is canceled or redirected to Ende or Bajawa.

If you are talking in the afternoon I assume you mean the 14:10 flight in Ende right? At that time there are no public buses anymore to Maumere so you need a travel indeed.

There are a lot of travels between Ende and Maumere. The best known company is Gunung Mas but only one travel per day and I am not sure in the afternoon/at what time.

There are also other travels (usually a small car or APV). These run upon request.

Thank you AnneMiekeFSK. Sure, nobody knows what is the situation in certain day. I think even if I need extra road drive, I better to Ende anyway. On this way I can leave Labuan Bajo already 2 days earlier leaving more time for my road trip. I think it's better to take the earlier flight, arriving Ende at 11:10.

BUT 17th of Audust is Independence day: are travels, busses etc running normally?

Should I book the travel and is it possible by phone (hope my accommodation in LB can maybe help)? And are they leaving from the Ende buss station (in case booking is not possible)?

Yes on August 17th public transport run as usual.

Best is to book by phone, however I am not sure if the hotel in Labuan Bajo can help you with that since apart from Gunung Mas they are all private business.

Travels don't part from the terminal but since this a door to door serive they pick up their passengers from their location (home, hotel and airport for example).

Anne's website is SUPERB. Wish other places has similar. Maumere airport closed until at leastJuly22 .Larantuka operating but terrible schedule requires 24hours layover in Kupang.
