Train to cha am from bangkok

I have done many short trips from Bangkok using both bus and private transfers and thought this time,to experience something different ,we would like to try the train. Our previous trips using both modes of transport have been very pleasant. Is the train journey pleasant. We would not be in any hurry to get to cha am and plan to take the morning train. We travel as a family with 2 kids 15 and 9.My main concern would be cleanliness .Thank you.

Jumping on the wagon of this subject:

Is there a train in the afternoon from BKK Airport to Hua Hin/Cha Am?

Thank you in advance

Hi,

No trains from either airport to Cha Am or Hua Hin but there are two afternoon services to both places from Thonburi and Hualamphong stations.

The first one is scheduled to depart from Thonburi at 13.11 and is timed to arrive in Cha Am at 17.23 and Hua Hin at 17.49.

The second train is scheduled to leave Hualamphong at 15.35 and is due to arrive at Cha Am at 19.42 and Hua Hin at 20.07.

Both trains mentioned above are Ordinary services, you can only buy tickets 30 minutes in advance. Do also note that they are almost certain to arrive late. Hope this helps.

(Belated) thank you for your info.

I think we will skip a train ride during this visit ...

Hi,

You are welcome, if you have the time you could travel locally, just for the experience.

Travel locally? What do you mean?

We are going to be in Char Am for 4 nights then move to Hua Hin for another 4 nights mid July.

Wonder if we can take a train ride between these 2 towns ... For experience sake for our 7 years old.

Hi,

Yes, that is exactly what I meant, take a train from Cha Am to Hua Hin and since you are staying in Hua Hin anyway why not travel there by rail. Do note that not many trains stop in Cha Am but all service heading south stop in Hua Hin.

Hi,

You are welcome, the first train of the day is scheduled to leave Cha Am for Hua Hin at 11.18. However, this train is almost certain to be late. The later train due at 13.10 is a better bet, in my experience it it is more likely to run on time. Both are Ordinary trains which means that you can buy tickets at the railway station 30 minutes before departure.
