Do a forum search and you will find a lot of info.

But it seems from your post that you are already aware of it being illegal in Thailand.

You will risk hefty fines.

Not tough at all. It's illegal and the fine for importation or use can be high.

If bf can't manage without, better holiday elsewhere.

Nope and I don't plan on risking it. If someone visited your country and broke a law you would expect them to be punished. Same thing really. It's just alien to us as it is legal in our home country. Not worth the hefty fine or prison time. I have seen reports of people using them quite openly, but in my opinion on their head be it. I have also ready reports from people receiving very costly on the spot fines. I guess it boils down to how willing you are to break the law in a foreign country and face the consequences...

Yes, I've done it - in private and never ever in public.

Nope, it's illegal. Thailand doesn't seem like the place to break the law. I took a nicotine replacement inhalator which is legal, even on the plane as nothing comes out of it. I know it's tricky especially when vaping keeps you from smoking but there's no way I'd risk taking my e-cig with me.

Shisha is illegal in Thailand, as well. Nonetheless you see many shisha bars. It's a subject of law enforcement and the shisha bars just have to pay some money to the guys in brown to turn away. And sometimes these guys in brown need a scapegoat.
