Hi all
Can anyone recommend trips or places to visit for a couple of old tarts aged 57/59.
This is also our firs trip here.
Thanks in advance.
Well I am 66 and consider myself young still - so you 2 are babies! Where will you be staying? Our favourite trip is the white water rafting in the stunning scenery of the Koprulu Kanyon - good for all ages and abilities and lunch included but not drinks. Also the Green Canyon boat trip is in lovely scenery and very peaceful too. Or go on a Monday or Thursday on the Manavgat boat trip which includes a trip to the massive market and to the waterfalls - lunch included. Do take a Turkish Bath/Hamam whilst you are in Side - a really relaxing way to spend 2 hours of total pampering. The best one here is Kumkoy Wellness Centre with free pick ups and no hassle. They have a website
You should get the bus to Alanya one day... it's great if you like shopping, big town but really beautiful along the harbour, there's a castle on the mountain that you can get a dolmus up and lovely walk down. The views are gorgeous. It's only just over an hour on the bus and they run pretty frequent.
Another nice day out is the Antalya Waterfalls trip. You also visit the Aspendos Roman amphitheatre before going into Antalya itself. There's. 300 year old Ottoman houses in this area that's called Kalici...
an olde worlde place,. Very relaxing bars, really chilled place.Roman harbour is also there with several good restaurants. It's a nice day out to a lovely area.
Manavgat Waterfalls l wouldn't recommend.... nothing special and overpriced boat trips to get there.
Yes, Alanya is well worth a visit but much easier than the bus is the day trip there from Side. Best to go on a Friday which is their market day. Also included is a boat trip around the harbour area, a trip up to the castle with spectacular views over the sea and town. a visit to a cave with stalagtites and stalagmites, lunch at the beautiful Dim Cay River where you sit in the river on pontoons where the waiters come out to serve you. Lunch is included in the price of the tour but not the drinks.
Archaeological ruins of Perge & Aspendos are near Antalya, as is the Kurşunlu Waterfalls & Conservation Park; that's one of our favourite days out when we hire a car.
We also love the Green Canyon & agree that Alanya is an interesting day too.
If you fancy further afield, for 48hrs or so, there's Pamukkale & Cappadoccia (have a peep on google for those, to learn a bit more about them).
we are staying at the sentido perissa
Ah the lovely Sentido Perissia hotel ... it's where I stayed when I first came to Side 12 years ago and before I bought a property here. Be careful though - it is a huge hotel and we kept getting lost - I think that's why they have a different coloured car on each level - to guide you It's a 40 minute walk from the hotel to Old Town Side along the promenade next to the coastal path, passing lots of bars, shops and restaurants along the way ... or you could take the dolmus for just 2 TL paid to the driver and the journey is only 5 minutes.
Thanks great information.
