Troy - Should I/ Should I not?

Dear TA advsiors,

I plan to visit Troy for a day from Bergama and then travel to Istanbul.

Is Troy worth it ?

Can we Troy and Assos in one day and the take the evening bus to Istanbul?

Which hotel would be recommended to stay for a night if the above is feasible?

Thanks in advance

Ah..now then Roy this is a better idea.If you want to fit another place in then rather than Troy go to Assos, great ruins there to wander around. After a fleeting look at Bergama the bus to Assos is only an hours journey. This would be a good overnight stop before heading direct to Istanbul.

Both Assos and Behramkale have some nice little budget B&B's such as-

or the Öktem Motel which is small and friendly.

Hello Sarikanarya, so if I spend the day in Bergama on 29th Dec, can I take a bus to Assos in the evening, spend the night at a hotel and then visit the Ruins on Dec 30th and then go to Istanbul.

1.Is there regular buses from Bergama to Assos? Should I book in advance?

2. Is there night buses to Istanbul from Assos?

Thanks in advance,

Sayan

First off big sorry needed.I think I hit the wrong key when typing or the brain stopped but I said an hour to Assos...it is actually 3 hours.!

Metro have a bus at 16.00 and Truva Turizm have one a little later around 17.00.Cost 30TL.But confirm the times when you get there though as they can be subject to change due to weather or road works etc..

To go onto Istanbul from Assos you need to go to Kucukkuyu just up the road a couple of miles where most buses pick up from(more choice).Kamil Koç have buses at 16.00,22.00 and 22.30.Metro Turizm also have buses at 22.00 and 22.30.Cost is 50TL and it takes 9 hours.

Now, that you have convinced me for Assos :-), should I do it with a tour or is it possible to do it alone.

To be greedy, is it possible to do Troy and Assos together?

BTW, it is a pity that the Assos forum is bereft of information of the famous ruins.

Thanks in advance,

Sayan

I doubt you will find a tour company combining them at any time of the year much less in the winter. They are also a good couple of hours apart.

Here is a taster for you ☺-
