Was that Thöni or Auger you put in your avatar? Or possibly you? Anyway he looks great!
On a serious note, after that many blank years you may have some difficulty adjusting your body/legs to the sensation you used to have on ski boards, which get pretty much sawed-off these days, btw. That said, after a couple of runs, you'd start to have your body/legs reacting to your turns, so no worries. Oku Shiga is a great venue for all levels of skiers. Up until early March, they sure enjoy *good powder* if you catch my drift. So have a bast!Edited: 13 May 2016, 13:07
Oops, I meant *blast* for 'bast.'
Snow boards were not permitted in that section of Shiga Kogen when I was last there, in 2013.
Okushiga kogen is the inner-most resort in Shiga kogen. There are two main runs and they are a bit narrow and steep. it might be a bit daunting for your warm-up. Consider other slopes whose runs are much wider and thus less daunting for you.
Yakebitaiyama - adjacent to Okushiga kogen, connected at the mt top.
Ichinose - another resort with many good and wide runs.
Terakoya - on top of Ichinose at 2100m. Great pow here, wide and leisure runs
One of the nice features in Shiga Kogen is that all these mts are connected so literally you can ski across these resorts one after another, or you may hop on/off a ski-shuttle bus to your desired resorts.
check out the ski resort map for the central area.
try to hit slopes in early March in jp.
was in Niseko and Rusutsu in mid-March 2 months ago. Quite disappointed as it was pretty warm the whole week, not much pow left on mt top. Some runs getting icy and hard, even rained on one day iso snowing :(
Understood severe El Nino was one of the culprits in the past season. However, due to global warming better be safe than sorry.
hv fun :)
Thanks to everybody for your replies and information.
Hi : DLi_hk
May i know is there any tour package that organize to Okusiga Kogen from Nagoya? Which will be the best budget lodging near the ski resort?
