Cameron highlands day tour from Penang?

Hi all,

My gf and I are spending a few weeks in Malaysia next month and would like to visit the Cameron Highlands while we are there. We are debating the following options and were hoping for some advice.

Fly into Penang and do a day trip from Penang.

Take the bus from KL and stay in the Cameron Highlands over night, then continue to Penang the following day.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Too far for a day trip from Penang (at least 3-4 hours each way).

I agree that Cameron Highlands is too far for a day trip. But do consider an overnight side trip on the weekend. Both Brinchang and Tanah Rata come alive over the weekend--some people say it is too crowded, but are almost dead during the week.

Have to agree with the above,it isn't a 5 minute trip.

However,as I have pointed out before, the temperature drops

and it becomes quite chilly.so I recommend a pullover be taken.

As was pointed out not so long ago the nightime temperature is

a balmy 12 to 15 degrees, and to us Australians this is barmy,

especially when we have been having nightime temps of 25c plus.

Happy trails

We have done this trip in reverse once and are about to do it again. We hired a car and stayed a few nights in CH, hiring a car is an expensive option though but for three of us and convenience it is worth it . For you I think the 2nd option might be the best.
