São Paulo November

Hi, I recently posted about hotels for the Grand Prix weekend in November, well hotel is booked and flights are booked would just like some general info please.

What is the most economical way of getting from the airport (Guarulhos) to the mercure hotel paulista?

We have a few free days in São Paulo (Thursday, Monday, Tuesday and 3/4 Wednesday) any suggestions on things to do on those days?? I would like to visit sennas grave on the Thursday. Any tips on how to get there?

I would also like some suggestions on nice restaurants and bars (if poss any that would give a view of the city)

And finaly what is the best way to get to interlagos circuit from the above hote? Any local hints and tips would be greatly appreciated?

1. GRU airport to Paulista region:

the most economical is a very cumbersome and long trip: you take bus 257 from airport to the Tatuape subway stop, then board the subway, change lines and eventually get to a stop near the hotel. the whole thing should come to less than 10 reais per person.

an alternative is to take the Airport Bus Service line to Avenida Paulista and get off at a hotel stop closest to your destination. It is about 36 reais per person:

if you are a party of 3, then a taxi from GRU will cost almost the same as the Airport Bus Service, with the added advantages of not having to wait for the bus and avoiding the intermediate stops in other hotels.

2. some general ideas on what to do in SP can be found in this NY Times article and this episode of the Anthony Bourdain TV show:

3. getting to Interlagos race track.

the city sets up specal non-stop bus lines from several points in town to Interlagos, for both Saturday and race day (Sunday). Last year it cost 25 reais for a round trip. one of the departure points was the Trianon-Masp subway stop on Avenida Paulista; you can walk there from your hotel.

info about these special lines will only come out closer to the race day.
