Are all the rental homes HUGE?

My husband and I are looking to escape Michigan's February snows and want to try someplace other than Florida (did that for a couple years). This past February, we were in Gulfport MS which was nice but we don't gamble and that area is hard to fish because it's too shallow for shore fishing. I've been looking at Gulf Shores rentals. We're not big fans of condos and prefer a stand-alone house but most everything I'm seeing is 4-8 bedrooms! Needless to say, a little overkill for 2 people. Is anyone aware of an area that has smaller homes for a 1-month rental? It also seems that a lot of the rentals are not available in February....I'm assuming the actual owners use them at that time?

I would suggest looking on www.vrbo.com in fort morgan, off of Gulf shores..

You can get a second tier home, just a shell drive to cross, for a good price...

here is a 2 Bed 2 bath

Thanks for trying to help with the links, Most of those didn't show up on my search for various reasons. One has only one bath, I searched for at least 2, when you live together long enough....you tend to need one at the same time :).

Two of them are already booked for all or part of Feb-2013. The last one had an uncovered deck.....unfortunately my husband smokes (ONLY outside) and appreciates a roof over his head when he runs out for a smoke. I'll keep looking, I guess they DO exist. Thanks again.

The condos were probably rented by snowbirds in Feburary. You might try Dauphin Island if you don't want alot of condos. The island is mainly houses and just a few condos. Great fishing off the beach!

Try martinique on the gulf which has some smaller homes.....you can also do a search on VRBO for homes in martinique in fort morgan area. Quite a few are already rented for the winter season as some snowbirds re-up each year, so you're smart to do your search early.
