Bear viewing late May/Early June

We're thinking of booking a bear viewing trip while in Soldotna June 1st. Are the bear active this time of year? We will be in the area a week and have several fishing trips booked what are the chance we will see bear without having to book a special trip?

Call Bear Mountain Lodge and see what they say about viewing during your time.

Just seeing a bear while you are out fishing, the chances are probably relatively slim. Sure it can happen, but especially that time of year I think the chances are smaller.

I'm curious as to what kind of fishing trips you are doing at that time? As far as I know, it's gonna be early for bears, but I assume the folks offering the trips can tell you more. Probably no bears feeding on salmon yet.

We saw a couple of bears munching on dandelions by the side of the road in Skagway at that time of year. But they were pretty drowsy still. Agree that you should call the Lodge and see what they say.

Ocean halibut on the Cook Inlet and king salmon on the Kasilof river.
