Condo rental Indian Canyon Drive & San Rafael Dr. Safe?

Our family of four will be vacationing in Palm Springs the week of December 25-January 1st. This will be our first trip to Palm Springs. We are having a difficult time trying to decide where to stay. We are looking at a place in Palmero which is located on Indian Canyon Drive and San Rafael Drivie. I know this is in the north part of Palm Springs and I heard the South side was the best place to stay. We are interested in staying in a vacation rental since we have older kids. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated,.

With thanks!!

I don't think there is anything "unsafe" about it. It is just not walking distance to the restaurants in "downtown" Palm Springs which would be south of the Resort Casino.

Thanks so much for your quick reply! It sounds like Palmero would be in close driving distance to everything!

I believe Palermo is a newer gated community (went belly up and was taken over). You will need a car, won't be able to walk to anything, but should be fine. Not sure what kind of amenities were ever built. One thing I would be sure to ask (if it matters) is what kind of pool facilities are near the unit, if there is a patio, etc.

Do you have any other options?

PS. I see that PS4rent.com (McClean) has a listing at Palermo. They are an established company. I might call them and ask about the complex in general.

Also you can look at photos from their listing...probably more comprehensive than a vrbo rental

I wonder if this particular rental is much cheaper than others or why you have picked it?

You may be used to driving everywhere like I am but sometimes it is nice to be able to take a walk out to a restaurant or other activity. When we go to Palm Springs for a weekend we prefer being closer to downtown but that's us and everyone travels differently. DO check on the facilities that are available.

Thanks for all the help!! It was a somewhat less expensive than others.

We do like things within walking distance. Since we have never been to Palm Springs before, we are unsure of what location to stay.

Will continue to look around...any suggestions are appreciated!!

I don't have any connection with them, but Ps4rent has been in that area for a long time. Why not ask them for recommendations? You can always double check on other sites like VRBO for similar locations.

In my experience the prices for dealing with an agency or VRBO are pretty close, it just depends on demand, and that is a high-demand week.

I can confirm that Palermo is pretty cheap for that weekend... probably because of the location.
