mystic as a side trip from NYC

we have visitors coming from Germany - 1 adult, children 5 and 7 - with three weeks here based in NYC. So we are looking for more side trips and Mystic was suggested for prob 2 nights. Good idea?

Fine, go to the aquarium, the Seaport, watch the drawbridge open and close, get ice cream at Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream and pizza at Mystic Pizza.

Great idea! You can buy a combined pass for Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium. Mystic Whaler Cruises is a great way to get out on the water. Or rent a boat from the boathouse at Mystic Seaport. Ice cream at Drawbridge ice cream and some time at the Mystic Riiver Park. Stop by the Mystic Museum of Art, or have some lobster rolls at Abbots, or visit the beaches in Westerly. Great fun.

Mystic, Stonington and Watch Hill YES ! I would drive there is so much to enjoy . Breakfast at Kitchen Little in Mystic, lunch at the Dog Watch in Stonington , dinner at Noah’s . Abbots in Noank for lobster. Mystic Oyster Co, or Bravo Bravo. If you can splurge stay at the Ocean House in Watch Hill it is on East Beach one of the nicest beaches on the Atlantic East coast. The Inn at Stonington is beautiful . If you must do a chain hotel the Holiday Inn Express is the newest near the aquarium , a very tourist area. Many nice air bnb spots in Mystic and Stonington and Watch Hill they are all safe upscale areas have fun . If it’s up your alley the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casinos are very close as well.

I agree with most posts here. Mystic is a great stopping point with a lot to do in the area. Have to second Sharon E's post about breakfast at Kitchen Little and Abbots. Also a great little seafood shack called Sea Swirl.

Yes.. from Mystic you can easily drive to Stonington Borough and even Niantic.

Do a sail on the Mystic Whaler out of New London as well... nice.
