Where should we eat?

I've lived in Floorida all my 65 years and have never been to Cedar Key. So, for our wedding anniversay we are going for lunch. Where should we go? Is there anything else we should do there?

If you want casual on the water, try the grouper sandwich at Big Decks on Dock St. Shop for souvenirs on Dock St and browse local artwork on 3rd St. Tony' s Seafood is my favorite restaurant for dinner.

You cant beat the chowder at Tonys and they have a pleasant outside area in the back. For water view I would take a look at Steamers. We also love the Island Room at Cedar Cove and you can eat outside there too with a water view.

Steamers has fabulous views, beverages, a great clam bowl, Cedar Key oysters and awesome authentic clam chowder. Big Deck has amazing grouper and cuban sandwiches. Enjoy!

Definitely go to Tony's, at least one time, during your stay. The clam chowder is a must have. They don't exaggerate as to how good it is. Clam chowder and a grilled cheese sandwich makes a great lunch.

Robinson's Seafood on route 24 east of town is a great place for a fine meal. An unpretentious family atmosphere, with good, reasonably priced food with good service. Best place to buy some fresh or frozen, too.

We stay at the C K RV and eat there several times every trip. Downtown? Tony's clam chowder is the best!

Definitely you need to eat at Tony's and try the chowder. Only problem is, it is off the water by a couple of blocks. On the water spots are Steamer's and Carlin's, both on the second story on Dock Street, overlooking the water.

Some excellent places to dine are the :

Blue Desert Cafe along Hwy 24. They are closed Sunday and Monday and open at 5pm for dinner. Grill and broil foods only - no fried stuff at Blue Desert. Cozy, eclectic. Go one hour before you normally eat dinner as all food is prepared to order and takes a bit longer. Go with intention to have some good conversation and then a great meal.

Steamers is also a very good. Mahi or Tuna is awesome. Grill, broil and fried foods.

Big Deck is where the local like to hang out. Good bar food, Good music.

Carlin's Steak Houseis very good also.

Robinson's Seafood is on the highway, about 7 miles from Cedar Key. Atmosphere, service, friendliness and the food is A plus. Love to go there. We eat there several times, when we go to Cedar Key. Annies is a good place in town to have breakfast.
