Crowd Calendars

Has anyone ever used the crowd calendars of when is the best time to visit a park and how crowded they will be. Which park is the best to visit on a certain day. I have looked at the calendars on easywdw.com and the one on undercover tourist.

They are both saying different crowd levels.

Have you used either one of these calendars and if so, was it accurate and which one is more accurate than the other.

We are going Aug 11-29.

Planning on buying the 5 day MYW ticket with waterparks. So it will be 5 days at the parks and 5 days at waterparks and/or disneyquest.

We are planning on spreading out the parks and waterparks over our time there. Will do one day each at the theme parks. Not sure which park we will use the fifth day ticket on. Any suggestions? Kids are 9 and 14. I was possibly thinking Magic Kingdom as there is more there to do and we may not get everything done in one day there. Or may let the kids decide which park they would like to revisit.

We are also staying offsite so will not be using the early morning and late night hours.

Was thinking about the following itinerary for the parks:

Tues Aug 14 - BB

Wed Aug 15 - MK

Thurs Aug 16 - TL

Fri Aug 17 - AK

Mon Aug 20 - BB

Wed Aug 22 - EP

Thurs Aug 23 - TL

Fri Aug 24 - HS

Sat Aug 25 - DQ

Aug 26 or 27th - fifth day at a theme park

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think your plan is OK. The Waterparks are open til 8pm, so that's nice, you won't feel like you need to be there for rope drop each day

I would just point out that if you wanted to add more Park Days, you can do that once you are there, they would only be about $8 a day more to add onto a 5 day base ticket. ( the more days you play, the less it costs per day ) Even if you just add another day or two, it would give you lots of options for just going to maybe Epcot one night to see Illuminations and have Dinner, that sort of thing

You have picked Parks without Extra Magic Hours on those days so that's good

Your first week might be a bit busier than the second week. We have found the crowd levels drop off a bit by the 16th or so

As Partypa said, crowds will be getting smaller as your trip goes along, since many schools in the U.S. head back in mid August nowadays.

Don't forget to give yourself some "rest/down time" as going to parks and water parks every day will become very tiring after a few days.

Are you staying on site at WDW?

Thanks for your reply.

Do you think we should move MK to Sat Aug 18th, will it be less busy? We want to go on a day when they have the electrical parade.

I think the 15th will be fine. It's fun to get to the Magic Kingdom as early on in the trip as you can, it helps put you in that Magical Mood. You can of course visit the Magic Kingdom a second time if you wanted too :)

Kat -

We are staying off site.

We are taking mostly the weekends off from the parks/waterparks to relax.

We probably won't spend the full day at the waterparks, probably just half day.

Thanks for your response.

Since you are staying off site of the WDW property, you'll likely want to avoid the Extra Magic Hour days at the Disney theme parks, just to help keep the crowds down a little more.

Here's a great calendar to help you plan:

There is no need to waste money on a crowd calendar. They are meaningless. The advice you have been given is pretty sound. Expect huge crowds with long waits your first few days then like a switch is turned the crowds go away. We were there during that same period this past year and was amazed at the drop off.
