Best Place to Stay for Cubs Game and Downtown Sights

Hi,

We will be in Chicago the last weekend in April for a Cubs game with our two teenage sons. We would also like to see Blue Man Group, do the Chicago Pizza Tour, and visit the Skydeck and the Bean. Could you recommend a hotel or area we should stay that would be centrally located to get to all these places? Will we easily be able to take public transportation everywhere? We are taking the Metra into Chicago. Thanks!

Most hotels downtown will be close to a CTA red line train station. You'll take the train to the game and BMG. CTA buses are also convenient to get around. www.transitchicago.com has the details.

You can refer to Google Maps to get point to point transit and walking directions to anywhere you'll need to go. Consider taking a taxi or Uber from the Metra station to your hotel. Dealing with luggage on a CTA bus can be a pain.

Do a search for a hotel in River North... that will be the best area for your trip. Once you do the search (on TA, Kayak, whatever your favorite travel booking site is), narrow it down for budget/personal style/etc and you'll be good to go. Safe travels.

River north or the mag mile. Basically google map where the Chicago ave and Grand ave red line stops are and find something within walking distance of one of them. You'll have to taxi from the Metra station to and from the hotel but after that you'll be conveniently located. You can also stay near one of the red line stops south of the river but it gets a little quieter in the evening because it's the business district. North of the river has more restaurants and shops and is more lively for tourists.
