Looking for somewhere to stay for one night on way thru Iowa CIty on vacation (visiting son)
Any suggestions would be appreciated- hotel not bed and breakfast
Thank you-will check those suggestions out.
The Marriott in Iowa River Landing in Coralville is very nice and the breakfast buffet is outstanding. It's right off Interstate 80. The setting is lovely, surrounded by woods, and within walking distance to several restaurants.
If your son lives near or on campus, you may want to consider the Iowa House Hotel. I worked there in college and they were starting to renovate all the rooms as of 2011, so I bet most of them are done now. It's located inside the Iowa Memorial Union.
If you are looking for a more traditional nice hotel, Hotel Vetro and The Sheraton are located on the Ped Mall in the heart of downtown Iowa City. Those are the best places to stay if you'll be spending the evening enjoying the city.
Sheraton is a nice hotel and it is the only hotel on campus. It is right in the heart of town and you can walk to various restaurants and courtyard area that is very nice.
The Sheraton is not "on campus". It's located in downtown Iowa City within walking distance of the downtown UI buildings. The UI campus is spread out all over Iowa City and Coralville. There is no central campus, per se. There's also Hotel Vetro downtown and a new Hilton hotel is currently under construction downtown.
Hilton is the best - downtown. Ask for Amanda - great service.
Is the Hilton where the Sheraton was?
Late getting back on here, but, thanks for the clarification.
