Greenwich CT to Hyannis

Hi there, Next year our son will be working in Greenwich CT (we are from the UK), we hope to visit him perhaps in June and we also hope to spend some time in Hyannis where we love the Seacoast Inn and hopefully a few nights in Nantucket. We shall no doubt fly to New York but was wondering if anyone could advise if it is an easy journey and how long it would take to get to Hyannis from Greenwich by car or are we better flying to Hyannis and back although we would ideally prefer to have a car to enable us to get to places like Provincetown.

4 hours without traffic. June should not be too bad for traffic but weekends are definitely worse than weekdays. Also, I 95 thru Ct and RI can be a bear sometimes.

I-95 in the left end of CT can be a real slowdown, no matter the time of day...that's why I now use the Merritt Parkway from Milford and west...

You might consider checking Jet Blue JFK to ACK. Fly from NY to Nantucket and spend the start of your holiday there then fly or take the ferry back to Hyannis. That way you won't pay for a rental car that you will not use while on Nantucket (unless you plan to ferry it over at large expense). If you take the ferry (or you can fly from Nantucket to Hyannis and get a brief bit of flight seeing over the Cape) then I suggest renting from the off-airport (just outside the Hyannis airport gates) location of Enterprise. They will pick you up at the ferry dock. They have shorter hours than their location inside the airport so you may need to consider that. Renting in Hyannis will be much less than in NYC and you can also return the car in Hyannis and fly back to NYC. It's a thought. Check the fares and schedule on Jet Blue/Cape Air

Copy and paste this into your browser. In late June you can fly one-way from JFK to ACK for about $150 each. This is a round trip. If the one-way is more then you just buy the round-trip and throw away the return. JetBlue.

CCC,

For the record, it's HPN to ACK. NYC just plain BITES.
