Neighborhood information

Can someone point me to a reference that would describe the different neighborhoods in KC? We are first time visitors trying to figure out where to stay. We see mentions of Downtown, Power and Light, Westport, and County Club Plaza, but not really anything that compares and contrasts them.

Once you pick an area, we can help you choose where to stay. The Plaza has a lot of great options that you can walk to. Downtown/Power and Light is a lot of nightclubs and restaurants. The Crossroads district downtown has some great independently owned restaurants and art galleries. Westport is not the ideal place to stay, but has some great bars and restaurants as well.

Decided on Plaza as museums are on our itinerary. Short notice, so not a lot of hotel availability. Trying to decide between Holiday Inn, Intercontinental, Hampton and Embassy Suites. Two middle aged couples sharing room. Raphael looks lovely, but more than we want to spend this trip.

Oops, Hampton and Embassy not available. Down to Holiday Inn or Intercontinental.

Did you check Hotwire? You might get something really nice for a lower price, although you won't know the name until you pay. Still, good bargains can be found using it.

I hate the blind booking. We get gov't/military rate anyway, so got deluxe room at Intercontinental at very reasonable rate. Thought it looked like a little better location than the Holiday Inn.

You don't have to do blind booking anymore because there are sites that will tell what hotels you are getting, google betterbidding and the bidding traveler to help you find your hotel
