Lodging on Metrolink line going to Busch Stadium

3 kids and 2 adults going to a couple of Cardinal games need lodging near a Metrolink. Need suggestions for a mid-level hotel or motel.

If you stay at the Hilton Airport or Renaissance Airport they have shuttles that you can take to the Metrolink. It's less expensive to stay near the airport.

If you have that many people just driving and parking would be the same price or cheaper. 5 people each way is $12 in fare.

You can:

-eat before the game at a number of restaurants in the Soulard neighborhood and ride free shuttles.

-park at some of the downtown garages and lots for $5 and walk 4 or 5 blocks to the stadium.

-park a short 2 or 3 block walk for $10 or $15

-park right next to the stadium in the closest lots or garages for $20 or $25

It's not like we're talking about Cowboys Stadium or Wrigley field where parking is controlled or limited.

For economical lodging, you can stay in Fairview heights, Il- near the big mall (St. Clair Square) there are MANY hotels, restaurants, stores there. to get to the game, ride the Redbird Express Bus. It leaves the mall

under the big water tower- and takes you straight over to the game (about a 30 minute trip, 10 miles down the hiway). The buses run frequently on that route.

If you are comfortable using Priceline, you can usually get a good deal at the Hyatt downtown. Betterbidding has shown recent wins in the $45 a night range. I think they have a fee for parking per night- check their website. The stadium is a quick walk from the hotel. If you prefer to just stay at a hotel away from downtown and take Metro, as mentioned, look into some hotels around the airport.
