Advise on traveling to Las Vegas from Toronto

Hello TA Members.

It's been awhile since my wife and I have been to Las Vegas. The last time was back in Sept of 2012. We stayed for 4 nights/5 days at the Mirage and traveled with Air Canada. I can provide you all the details

Departure Flight: 9:30am EST -11:45am PST

Return Flight: 11:30pmPST - 6:30am EST *next day*

We loved the red eye flight on the way home but are open to suggestions this time around. I remember our package came with free tickets to go watch Cirque du Soleil as well. In total, we paid around $1550 CDN total, or 750'ish each.

We wanted to go back, but looking at prices now, they seem a little crazy. I checked the usual sites, such as ITravel, RedTag, Travelocity.. etc and for the same stay, with about the same flights, it's coming out to over $1000 a person (around $2100 total). This is for some of the cheaper hotels on the strip, such as Treasure Island, or Hard Rock (a little off the strip).

Is this the average price nowadays for Canadian travellers?. Any suggestions on when to look, or perhaps to book flight/hotel seperately? We are planning to go Feb/Mar of 2018, so there is still lots of time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you priced out flights and hotels individually to see how that manner of booking would compare to packages? Packages in the West tend to have less desirable (for us!) flight times, and often indirect flights. Booking separately, you can pick the flight times/patterns that work best for you, and have more options for hotels.

Booking very last minute, packages may be significantly less expensive. If you can be very flexible with your travel dates, that would work well.

Flights and hotels usually are more expensive on weekends, so choosing weekdays would also save money.

One of the frequent posters here is from Toronto; hopefully he'll have advice more specific to your area.

In our 55+ times we have never flown out of Toronto. We fly Southwest non-stop our of Buffalo and just call the hotels (1-800 numbers on their website) to book separately. Book your flights and then you can check prices and always cancel if you find something cheaper.

The U.K. visitors love Circus Circus, for cheaper lodging.

Maybe that would work for Canadians too?

Good luck,

Hi! We like to use selloff vacations, air Canada vacations, westjet vacations, and even Sunwing vacations...

We usually find it cheaper to buy a package, because we are traveling from Canada...

Hope this helps!!

Have a great time!!

Take a look at Southwest Vacations out of Buffalo.

I book seperate because I get room comps. Airfare my price point is $500 nonstop. It may go lower. Check Hopper app for notices and advice. Redeye return is cheapest. One price difference are resort fees which are usually paid seperate. If you book packages read fine print. $30++/day average.

Check seperate and compare.

There are some deals for last minute packages if you can do them.

I always fly out of Toronto. I just can't see driving to Buffalo. I live in Toronto. OP is from Niagara Falls

have you checked expedia.ca? I find their package prices flying out of YYZ often better than Air Canada Vacations and West Jet Vacations and more often than not we end up with some sort of perk (earlier this month we had a $200USD food and beverage credit at Encore).

Also join MLIFE(MGM) and Total Rewards( CET) and check online for pricing. Get players card when you get there. Fremont will be less than strip and some have no resort fees.if you base price on a $500 flight than that's 1100 for hotel which seems high for TI
