Things to do in December

Hi I wrote awhile back asking the same thing, but thought maybe others would have a few more ideas. Going to Vegas for 2 nights 3 full days in December and was wondering what else there is to do in December, any cant misses, etc. I read about Bellagios Christmas display, sounds amazing. Plus I know there are spas and of course drinking, eating and gambling. Just seeing if there is any Christmas-ey wintery things to do while we are there. Thanks.

You can do everything you want except using the Pool

Most casinos, don't have much extra activities for Christmas.

Few casinos have Santa type costumes for their cocktail waitresses, and thats it I guess

Depends on what your dates are. For example, there's a tree lighting ceremony downtown on the 11th.

Bring a winter coat and gloves, maybe insulated boots.

Christmas Shopping, it has to be one of the best places to buy things you do not find at home.

Two of the best Christmasy places in Vegas-

Sam's Town always decorated their indoor park very nicely. I always felt it was the best place that really captured the Christmas spirit. They even put little Santas hats on the animals. They do have a shuttle.

Ethel M Cactus Garden has a beautiful display. It puts thousands and thousands of lights on the cacti. It really looks like a wonderland. The lights are on from 5 until 10PM. Santa makes an appearance on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 9! And they do have carolers!

I would say, like the first poster, you can do anything you want. One of the nice things is that in December hardly anyone else is there, so there are few to no lines or waiting, and even the traffic is a bit lighter because of the low number of tourists.

Also, a lot of the desert attractions are a lot easier because it's not scorching hot this time of year. Go to valley of fire, Red Rocks, or even up to Death valley or down to th Mojave preserve.

If you want wintery things to do then go up to the top of Mt. Charleston, you may be able to ski or snowboard up there; it will be cold enough to.

I also when I'm there watch TV in my hotel room while I'm getting ready to go out and sometimes they tell of an interesting Christmas even being put on by someone or some group in town, whether a casino, church, or any other group. One time I heard of a group that needed help handing out blankets to homeless so I did that, it was downtown under that bridge not too far from Fremont St; that was very rewarding and sobering.

Most of all go and enjoy, I think December in Vegas is very special and most people miss out by not being able to go or by avoiding it.

I second the desert excursions----the perfect time of year for Death Valley (which was pushin 8- the day before Thanksgiving), just dress in layers. Gloves and hat are a must regardless, it's chilly in LV at night and the early morning, too.

There is a drive through light display in a park off Eastern, the theme is called "the Gift of Light"---cannot remember the park name but it was very pretty and very holidayesque. Maybe someone else has more details. Ethel M's too, that's always nice.

Enjoy your stay!

If you are going to the Bellagio anyway, why not check out the Four Seasons Christmas display? Teddy Bear Village and Gingerbread House display-till Dec.25. Open 24 hours in the hotel lobby.

ah, geez. I was thinking that the Four Seasons is next door to Bellagio. Oops. It's next door to Mandalay Bay. Sorry.
