Is the $50 bill really bad luck?

Last time we went to Vegas, it just happened that we took only fifty dollar bills. Previously, we had take $100, $50, and $20 and it seems that our money lasted long. Don't get me wrong, we still lost but only not in record pace. Is it better to take all $5, $10, $1, or what? Just wondering if the $50 bill is jinxed.

I say this kindly --

If you think that $50 bills are 'really' bad luck, you probably shouldn't be in a casino.

I worked in a casino and we were told that 50 dollar bills were very unlucky according to the Asian population. We could take them in but never give them out.

I first heard about this from a dealer in Vegas. It was at MBay about 7 years ago playing either Caribean Stud or 3 Card Poker, she had been dealing for several years so I listened. I asked why, the only "legend" she cited was that Bugsy Siegal had been killed with 3 x $50 bills in his pocket and it was the only cash he had on him.

I have to say I believe it now though, a few trips I've gone when the bank gave me quite a few fifties because they were low on hundreds, I always seem to get zero play for my money. I now make sure to get my bankroll together well before my trip incase this happens so I can get them changed out.

Most of the times I've had a really good hit on a machine, I've started with a $50 bill. I always take several to Vegas with me. My worst luck is when I put a $100 bill in, better luck putting in 5 $20 bills instead........go figure!

A 50 Dollar bill is no more bad luck than a 1 Dollar bill?!

I've never heard of this but as with anything in life, you tend to make your own good or bad luck with the actions you carry out.

I've seen superstition sometimes ruin peoples enjoyment so let it go?!!

I guess the trick is not to carry three of them $50's, unless of course if you want to get killed. But wait, maybe the number now is 4 X $50, what with inflation and all.

I will not ever take another $50 bill with me to Vegas. (I think Gabby might be a casino spy on this forum, giving us info that the casino wants us to use so we can lose) . I wonder if $5 has somewhat the same affect, except quicker? Nope, Not taking a chance. No more $5 bills in my bankroll.

hitch- my husband was told by a cashier that $50's are bad luck and they will take them -but not give them back- she said it was the mob's favorite bill to shove in your mouth after they offed you!

kitty - you crack me up!

vegascalling, I thought that they cut off the guy's privates and placed those in his mouth and then sewed the mouth shut. At least that's what I remember reading in the book, "The Godfather". If they gave a choice and I was going to get offed, I would choose the$50 bill. I'd ask the guy, politely, of course, "Could I take the $50 option, sir?" If he says no, well, what do you have to lose?.
