Day 1

We were due to fly on the 4th, but thanks to the kind gentleman travel agent who took our money, and then did not book anything with it, and after a lot of last minute scrambling, we flew out on the 5th. Approx half flew out to Atlanta from Manchester, these then split into two more flights to go on to Vegas. The other half of the original group, me included, flew to JFK and then on to Vegas. It wasnt as originally planned and it was far from ideal, but after the previous couple of days hassle we were just happy to be going at all to be honest.

The taxi picks me up at 4.15am and we are away. The night before my 4 year old daughter told me I could take the easter egg with her name on with me. Leaving in the morning, knowing I wouldnt be seeing her or her 20 month old sister for 7 days nearly broke me and I didnt have the heart to take it. I left her a note saying we would eat it together upon my return.

We get to the aiport and we do what every other stag do does, we hit the bar. A couple of hours and 4 Stella's later we are in the air. No drama's and a good chunk of hours later we land at JFK. I board for the final leg of the journey and attempt to find my seat on the plane. It doesnt exist. Back off the plane and back to the gate. I new printed boarding card finds me a seat only to see virtually every other passenger getting to their seat to find it occupied. Bedlam commenced until somebody apologised for the confusion on the PA and just said find a seat and sit in it. We leave the gate and find we are in a queue to leave, and with it being 6pm it will be a long queue. We take off two hours late.

I sit in a left hand window seat and about an hour out of New York the scenery is absolutely sublime. Beautiful greenery and some strange looking, massive lines of what look like a raised tree line in a massive forest. These seemed to be curling away into infinity in a circular direction. Its not a good description but I hope someone can shed some light on what I saw. Also the stunning mountain range just appearing as if from nowhere. No issues and at 8pm local time we land in Vegas and head to the IP.

We know the opinions of the IP. I will say I enjoyed it. Rooms are basic, but on a stag do so are the travellers requirements! The casino has a good atmosphere and I will gladly stop here again if it is with a group of lads.

So 8pm means I have been awake 24 hours. So I grab my key, drop the bags and get a shower. I am exhausted so I get an early night in preparation for the upcoming drinking/dancing/singing/enjoying myself/making a fool of myself sessions. Oh I've got that wrong, I went out and cained it. First to the IP bar, then Harrahs duelling Pianos until it closes, then back to the IP for a few cheeky ones. I eventually turn in after a quick walk on the strip at about 430am. I am extremely tired and very drunk, but stood looking at the Cosmo from afar, with the warm air spinning around me, I am also over the moon. Its been 5 long years baby, and boy am I pleased to be back. I think I shout something similar to the Strip, and I am sure it hears me as I feel a warmth deep inside me. Although that could be the evenings high jinx making an entrance!

Up next on day 2, the recovery, Stripburger and my 1 and only lucky session.

Day 2 - The recovery.

So 32 hours was enough for me. Or the numerous Stella's, Corona's and Guinness! I wake up at midday feeling a bit queezy and wishing I could have slept more. I didnt know at the time that this was to be my best effort at sleep till I got home. I decided I needed fresh air and food. A quick shower and a right turn heading down to the FSM and Stripburger. I couldnt face food straight away, so went and got some bits from Macy's then hit Stripburger. Thanks to CarolA_N, I had a Restaurant.com voucher. This was used on a cookie and cream shake, no shot cos I already had the shakes!, Hickory burger and strings and fries combo. I enjoyed sitting out in the open, watching the world go by and feeling rough in my favorite city. I ate the burger slowly and took the rest back to the IP. The leftovers wouldnt get wasted.

Back in the room and still feeling the pain, I decide to nap for a few hours as the plan is Nine Fine Irishmen tonight at 10. Craving sleep I obviously cant achieve this, so I shower and go for a wonder. Have a look around The Cosmopolitan and locate the pizza joint for future reference. Attempt to visit the viewing area near the Strip view pool as recommended by someone on here, but its closed for a private function. The hotel has a nice feel to it and this is where I want to stay when I return one day with my wife.

Across the road to Miracle mile shops for some new footwear and then onward to NYNY. After buying new trainers and opting to wear them straight away, the sales girl hands me a bag with the box containing my old trainers in it. I carry this for a while before deciding that I dont want to lug them around all night just so I can take them home to use in the garden/garage etc so I decide to bin them.

In the current climate, ie my still non properly functioning brain and due to the fact that eejit getting himself slotted in Pakistan, I start to get the feeling that if I am seen putting a big box in a bin in a large heavily populated area, It might lead to some uncomfy questions. Eventually pickled peanut brain decides life is for living. I put said box in bin nearest the exit and walk as fast as my pickled peanut brain will make my short sausage like legs go. I evidently get away with the crime of the century. Please dont tell anyone.

I pass M&M and make a mental note to visit later in the week to get the kids some.

At NYNY I finally start feeling up to some fun and games as some of the crew arrive. We start on a few Guinness and after a couple I get a familiar feeling in my stomach. I decide to get something to eat. Maybe this will help. A slice of pizza makes no difference as I cant eat any of it!

I return to NFI with my tail between my legs and explain I cannot carry on. My only Friday in town and I'm calling it a night about midnight. Pathetic. They dont take the ****! Obviously.

Steady walk home calling in different places and eventually I hit the IP. I am feeling better so I chance my arm with another Guinness. Not bad, so I get another. Not bad at all and its only about 2am so I figure I will play LIR. I heard a lot about this on this site so decided it was for me. Found an empty $5 table and passed over $100 and my players card. After a few hands a cute lady joins the table with eyes exactly like Eva Longoria. Bonus. Then an uncute drunk lady joins and precedes to swear, throw her chips for about half an hour before finally calling the game 'unwinnable' and moving on.

About this time I am pleased to be playing the bonus spot for $1. I find trip 2's so tuck my cards for 3 bets. The dealer quickly reveals 8's for a full house. 11 to 1 x 3 plus $150 bonus. Nice.

About an hour later I find 885. Drag a chip and dealer shows a 5 so I tuck em. Dealer turns another 8. Awesome. Play for about another hour and then cash in the black chips for $600. A $500 profit for a cheap a**e useless get like me is very nice so I call it a night in preparation for tomorrows official stag do. Its about 5am so I hope/expect to sleep till about midday.

A quick footnote. Upon arriving at IP to check in, we were informed that the rooms hadnt been paid for. The guy who took our money but didnt pay for anything was self employed but worked under the umbrella of another company. The parent company sorted the flights and room bill all within a day and a half of us leaving the UK. Hence all the different flights. However, at check in it became apparent that the room bill had not been paid. One of the lads paid for 13 rooms on his credit card in order for us to actually stay there.

I get in one night and cant get in the room. I go back to reception and ask yhe question. The rooms havent been paid for is the response. I inform them that these rooms have been paid for twice in fact, but definately once as it was done earlier in the day. We have no record she says. I soon realise an argument will not solve the issue and being unable to locate anyone else, I pay again for the room to enable me to get in!

It is not a major issue as I am confident we can resolve it in the morning.

I find the guy with the big CC bill and we go to reception and I get a refund and all is fine.

So I paid for a room in the IP 3 times, bet nobody else will admit to that!
