The Flamingo Hotel

Hi

I have recently booked a trip to Vegas and am staying at the Flamingo. I have read some quite bad reviews about the hotel and am getting a bit concerned i have made the wrong choice.

I have previously stayed at The Mirage Hotel so i know i am not going expect the same standard at the Flamingo. Obviously the location of the Flamingo is great but i am worried about safety, cleanliness & standard of the rooms.

Any comments will be much appreciated

Many Thanks :)

We've stayed there plenty of times. Don't worry. CHeck and see how many posts those "bad reviewers" have posted. Usually they have expectation far and above what you're going to get at the Flamingo, but it's a great place to stay. Have fun!

Flamingo is an economy hotel, certainly at least one step down from Mirage. But an economy hotel/casino in Las Vegas still meets certain standards. You don't have to worry about safety at all, and they certainly make efforts to keep the hotel and casino clean.

An economy hotel in Las Vegas is not the same as an economy hotel in Cleveland or Detroit (not picking on you). As long as you are not expecting luxury you will be fine. But let's be perfectly clear, part of the reason you chose Flamingo was because of the price, and you will get what you pay for.

Just got back July 1st from the Flamingo in a Deluxe room. I think the Flamingo gets a bad rap. I love it! Great location, pool and casino. The rooms are fine, nothing spectacular, considering the limited time I spend in them. I have stayed in the GO rooms before and they are nicer but had comped Deluxe rooms this time and couldn't pass that up! Don't worry...Enjoy!

We are staying at Flamingo for the second time in 3 weeks. We scored a very nice upgrade last trip to a Go Room with a view, so I can't comment on the standard rooms. I have seen lots of photos of them and they look fine. Nothing special, but fine. They are re-doing the standard rooms now, so depending on when your trip is, ask for a newer one.

The hotel itself was fine for us. We are not fancy people, but everything we encountered was clean and the staff was friendly to us. We liked it enough to stay again...

What room have you booked? There's quite a difference between standard rooms and Go Rooms.

The Flamingo is fine for anyone who is not expecting a luxury experience. The rooms a comfortable and some people don't spend much time in their room anyway. If it works for you then it works. :-)

The location is very good as you stated in your original post.

I have stayed in a deluxe room twice, a suite deluxe (bigger room, older style) and A GO room 3 times. The deluxe rooms are fine, nothing fancy but clean. The GO rooms are great with the newer style and electronics. Safety isn't an issue.. If you're not high maintenance then the pick bird is a great place to stay. I'm wondering why now you're worried? Why didn't you look at reviews before you booked? Do a search for Flamingo and see how many times this same subject has come up.. With all the responses you'll see, you should feel better about staying at the Flamingo.

We have booked a deluxe room but was going to ask for a upgrade to a GO room when we check in. Do you think we should upgrade and if so has anyone had any problems getting an upgrade on check in.

Thanks for any comments :)

PS thanks to everyone that has replied so far, they have been very helpful x

We did research the Flamingo before booking and the reviews seemed OK. It's just in the last few days there seems to be a lot of bad reviews. :(

Gotcha.. Honestly I would upgrade to a GO room if it's in your budget. You can try to upgrade when you check in. ($25-30 per night) Other than that, the deluxe rooms are fine. Ask for a high floor as those do seem to be a little nicer. When's your trip?
