Mlife / Aria Comps and Future Offers

Just got back from our trip. See my TR on here somewhere.

Got a question for the Mlife experts.

We had a offer for 3 free nights in an Aria Corner Suite, $150 a day F&B, and $300 FP. I accrued, from 0, 76000 Tier Credits Wed, Thur, and Friday. Checked out Friday evening to catch the flight. Id say out of the $450 F&B, we used about $375 of it over the 3 days and of course we played the $300 FP and we earned an additional $60 or so in Express play by the time we left, so we spent it too. We had zero charges on the room at checkout except for a $1 tip the wife put when she bought coffee.

We ended up ahead for the 3 days at Aria because of some big wins on the Zeus III machine and few 100-200 hits on some others.

I remember discussions in the old Players Club on Tier levels....like 1-14 determining your offers.

Any experts know what tier of offer that was and what might be the expected play and whether or not we fell short, met, or exceeded it?

Should I expect similar future offers or did we really underwhelm them?

Only wondering, because we are thinking about going back on Christmas, and wouldn't mind staying at an MGM property again. Aria was especially nice and we really enjoyed it.

Can you tell us this? You used less than the $450 f&b extended upfront. When you go to the Mlife website, do you mind telling us the current level of express comps?

At 76,000 tier points, they will be happy to have you back. Three trips a year like that and you would reach their highest card level - 200,000 platinum.

I'm no expert. All I can tell you is that in my one trip last year, I earned 154,000 tier credits in 3 1/2 days, any my corporate offer for Aria was just 3 nights in a regular room, 150 food/bev and $250 in FP. Luckily I have a host who provides better offers.

Although they do seem really inconsistent in their offers, so who knows.

Aria has been aggressive recently in extending one-off offers like the one you got. I got a similar offer, and it far outstrips any offers I got from any of the other properties. I don't think it was necessarily tied to any slot tier level.

25,000 tier credits a day is a completely respectable amount of play; however, it may not be enough to expect to get the same offer again, unless Aria continues to be as aggressive.

That said, you should end up getting decent offers, and at that level of play, you should qualify to have a host assigned, and often a host can give you a better offer than what the MLife system generates on its own.

Thanks for the replies. Here's my mlife stats.

POINTPlay: $1.60

FREEPLAY: $135.00

HGS Points: 5,391

Express Comps: $107.85

M life Tier Status: Gold

You have 75,936 Tier Credits!

I used a bit over $60 of the pointplay the last day. The 135 is for the beau rivage. I was at 0 tiers before the trip since it was over a year since the stay at Beau.

Guess all I can do is wait and see.

you probably wont like what I am going to say. translate 76000 tier credits back to slot points. thats 7600. notice also the HGIS is 5391 points.

The HGIS is what you played this trip.

Back before MLIfe, Casinos like mgm, ny ny, montecarlo, Ti, expected about 3500 points(1.50 a point) to get one comped night. the bellagio 7000. Mirage 6000.

I am surprised you made it to gold. You must have had previous play that counted.I have my doubts, you will get similar offers. you may get 3 nights, minor free play at some of the hotels. during the weekdays. All depends on casino marketing wanting to fill the rooms.

I had no play or tier points before the trip.

My last visit to an MGM property was as I said, the beau rivage. That was Jan of 2010. I hadn't been to a MGM since way before mlife started. Was told by the exec host I called to book that the offer was based on the beau rivage visit.

Also, I don't remember my final slot point tally, but I do remember noticing it was above 8200 at one point. That was at least the day before we left. I never bothered to notice it on Friday. So somehow, the math on the hsg vs slit points vs tier credits doesn't add up. Maybe done of the progressives I played affected the tallies.

As mtroh said, your HGIS should be the number of slot points you've earned this calendar year. They zero it out each year after the Holiday Gift Shoppe event in the first half of December. This can be different from your current slot point count, though. My guess is that you had about 3,000 slot points still on your account from your play at Beau Rivage. I think they stay for about 18 months. That added to the 5,300 earned at Aria would get you to 8,300 and you said that you had over 8,200 at some point.

The express comps is in line with the 5,300 points as you get $0.02 in express comps for each slot point.

If you earned atll of your tier credits at Aria, then this would mean that you had about $15,000 of coin in. If all of the play was on standard slot machines, not VP or "special" games, you should have had 7,500 slot points. To only get 5,300 points, you must have played a lot of VP or games that Aria designates as "special." I have an email into the casino marketing folks at Aria now to try to find out what they consider to be "special" games.

True points in the past stayed good for 18 months without any play. Until MLife was installed and now its 12 months.

as far as Express comps, it seems every body got some express comps from play before MLIFe. I have heard the number is around $65 and that is about what I got. before any play in January.

No I dont know for certain but My solid guess on "special machines" is pretty simple. I think the Aria has rapid roulette and some other slot machine looking roulette game. I know they have blackjack machines that look like slots. maybe even some version of texas holdem that looks like a slot. These machines would be more similar to video poker and the odds are probably different than a penny slot so they would be considered special machines.

I also think its pretty clear that certain slot machines are considered "specialty" games - the ones where the casino has to pay a licensing fee such as for the Sex & the City, Lord of the Rings, American Idol and those of that nature. It was obvious to me that my point total did not increase at the same rate on those machines (where you often have to bet $2 per spin just to cover all the games) than it did when betting the same amount on standard machines.
