"Houses money". NO - it is YOUR money

I've seen a number of statements lately that consider a win the "houses money". I don't know where people get this misunderstanding.

If you win, it is your money. If you continue to play you are playing with your money.

Casinos love people who think like this.

It is your money once you win. However, if you win your initial buy-in back plus more and only gamble the extra, it isn't money that is coming out of your initial bankroll. For instance, if I buy in for $200 at Blackjack and make a $200 profit, I can return my original $200 to my bankroll and press my winnings to try and win more (or lose it). We are there to gamble, so if we want to press our luck it's better to do so with winnings.

I do view it that way because almost all I do is gamble. I don't just stop playing because of being ahead. So 'house money' is synonimous to 'ahead'.

Ah, who we kidding. It all belongs to the government anyway. They are just letting us play with it for a while. Ain't that nice of them?

At least that is what my Uncle always told me. Perhaps you have met him before? His name is Sam.

I never do. LOL!

"When you win money its your money. It belongs to no one but you."

Unless you drop it on the casino floor, then it becomes property of the casino.

I consider it house money until I cash out, then its my money, until then its just the equity I've accrued, while sitting at that table.
