Wild Turkey???

We were visiting last week in the Mahwah area and believe that we saw a wild turkey walking along the road, in a somewhat remote area? Is this likely?

That has been a problem in recent years. I remeber my dad said a few years ago while at work he saw a turkey on the Ramsey 17 platform.

This post gave me a chuckle. I grew up a few miles from Mahwah and we regularly had wild turkeys in our yard. They used to drive my dad nuts when they walked on the pool cover because he was afraid they would damage it. They also drove our dogs crazy! They are a bit freakish to see when you're not expecting them, and are larger than one would think. During the mating season, they would chase our dogs away, and the males meant business. Those claws look pretty sharp!

I had one Tom attack the wheel of my moving car all the way down our driveway! Guess he thought it was a rival. Seeing and hearing a flock of them roost in the trees is also a sight to be seen and heard.

I enjoy seeing wild turkeys but I must say we have never had a problem with their behavior.

Thanks so much for your fun memories. Being from the South, I never thought about wild animals up your way. My funniest wild memory was when my sister lived in rural Fla and had a very large wild hog run into her house. Made a bit of a mess and ran out.;-)
