girls getaway- lodging needed

A group of my friends(total 6-7- all around 50) are planning a weekend getaway possibly around mid-May. We are looking at the Finger Lakes area as it is central to most of us. We are open to b&bs, inns, or private rentals but would prefer not to share beds if possible. We are looking to spend time having good meals, trying wines, seeing scenery and some shopping. We would prefer a nice place but not over the top in cost. Any suggestions re accommodations and locations as well as activities/restaurants would be greatly appreciated. We will be coming from Canada (Mississauga, Ottawa, Montreal) as well as Cleveland. Thanks!

There are a number of great B&B's in the Canandaigua area, that you would no doubt enjoy. They are all unique in what they offer so it would be worth checking out the local association's website -- www.bandbfingerlakes.com. There you can view most B&B's in the area and compare amenities, cost and location. For example, there are three B&B's on Main Street (Oliver Phelps, Bella Rose and Inn on the Main) within a short walk of one another. Those three also happen to be within walking distance of shops, restaurants, the New York Wine and Culinary Center, Sonnenberg Gardens, and so much more. I encourage you to check the website to see how your visit could be best planned, especially since you don't want to share rooms. Splitting the group up between two B&B's that are just a few houses apart might be a great option for you. Good luck - you'll surely enjoy this beautiful part of NYS!

Thanks for the suggestions. We don't mind sharing rooms- just beds.

I like the idea of being walking distance to a town.

The Log Cabin Bed and Breakfast might meet your needs and more. There are a total of 8 beds ranging from singles to kings, in four bedrooms. This inn is located in the Bristol Hills just 6 miles from the city of Canandaigua. Guests realy enjoy the peace and privacy, porches, outdoor hot tub and comfy living rooms. Check the current reviews for a better idea of the Log Cabin experience.

also check out www.fingerlakespremiereproperties.com. They can rent vacation homes across the entire FL area to you and are very reliable. I would reccommend Canandaigua, Penn Yan or Ithaca as towns to stay in. Prices should be very low in this offseason. Good luck!

You would be closer to wineries if you stayed in Geneva. There are plenty of places to choose from - Hampton Inn, Ramada Inn, B&Bs, Geneva on the Lake, Cobtree house rentals (http://www.cobtree.com/info.html). Please note that the last two are not quite walking distance to restaurants.

In Geneva, there are plenty of good restaurants - Halsey's, Parkers, Red Dove, etc.

Canandaigua is not very close to wineries as there are maybe only 2 wineries on ths lake. There are about 40 on Seneca lake, which is the lake that Geneva is located on.

Enjoy your trip!!!

I agree that Cobtree Vacation Rental Homes (www.cobtree.com) is the best place to stay for large groups in the Finger Lakes as we have several homes on the same site and can accommodate up to 36 people sharing or in seperate beds 20 people. We are right on the middle of the Seneca Lake wine trail and nearby to Ports restaurant, Madderlake restaurant,Vonnies boathouse etc. Loads of things to do around the area all year round.

Ah yes, but argueably not as good as the view over at Cobtree Vacation Rental Homes near Geneva in the Finger Lakes which overlooks Seneca Lake and right on the Seneca Lake wine trail! At Cobtree you can play Bocce,horse-shoes,walk in the woods, build a real campfire, hike, play ball games on the lawns, enjoy a gas bbq with the propane supplied free of charge, use of the wifi is free as is linen, sheets and towels provided in the price and with no additional cleaning fee payable when you check out either! Public access onto the lake is but a short drive away and you can even rent a boat or kayak at Roy's Marina 2 miles away....much much more at Cobtree...the Finger Lakes Experience!
