JFK is a long distance from Poughkeepsie.

The closest airport is Stewart Newburg.

Unless you are going to the Hudson Valley, Poughkeepsie is a terrible place to stay if you are planning to stay go to NYC.

If you need to be in the Poughkeepsie area, you will need a car. You would be best renting a car or taking public transit to Poughkeepsie and renting a car from there

Read through the reviews to see which hotel meets your needs. You also can use a site such as Kayak to just get an idea of which hotels are in the area.

Once you decide on a place to stay, contact the hotel directly to find out about recommended car services specifically in that area that do airport pick ups.

I have family not far from that area. They fly in/out of JFK all the time. Stewart is ok, but has somewhat limited services.
