I am planning to visit Shillong with my wife and a 4 year old kid in Sept End - 1st week of Oct 2018 for 5N/ 6 Days.
I will fly from Delhi to Guwahati and then from there by road. Tickets not done yet. Based on the inputs I will finalize in a day or two.
Please help in planning my trip.
I understand by reading earlier posts that visit to Root Bridge of Cherrapunji with 4 year old can be troublesome as it needs total of 6 hrs of trek both ways. so is there an alternate to root bridge which can be seen at some other place which can be done keeping in mind the child, eg: Root Bridge of Mawylynnong?
Is the month of Sept (End) good time to explore things around? especially all the waterfalls?
From Guwahati, which one is better to travel first, shillong or cherrapunji?
Can a visit to Dawki river/ Tamabil border /Shnongpdeng can be covered in this duration?
I could see a lot of waterfalls/caves/parks that can be visited, would like to now which should not be missed?
Is any permit needed for visiting these places?
Although fond of visiting hills, we all have motion sickness issues if the travel is too much circular (hilly), are the roads in between these points/places too steep/circular?
Do we need to prebook taxis/hotels? Sugestion for medium budget hotels (INR 1000-1500) will help.
Any suggestions for good vegetarian restaurants at these places will help.
Although shillong forum, few question about Guwahati:
The River cruise in Guwahati, one done in evening around 5 pm advisable/ enjoyable?
I would like to visit Kamakhya Temple too in this visit? What time would it be advisable for darshan, morning or afternoon?
will keep posting my queries as they come up.
Any precautions/travel advise (especially with a 4 yr old)?
