Going to Gold Beach with family in July. One week. First time. Need advice on restaurants, day trips nearby , things to do, weather. Please share your expertise. Thanks. All adults on trip.
Try to take the jet boat trip with Jerry's. 😎
For me, a week in Gold Beach would be about five days too long. I would spend a couple of those days in the redwoods and a day or two exploring the southern coast. The Rogue River Wilderness is the big draw and the jetboat trip is a must.
I was wondering the same thing. You picked Gold Beach (from among all of the other coastal communities) and I wondered "Why?" And now ask what to do, what to see... Are we missing something, such as why you chose GB?
Is this lodging something you can change if you decide to do so?
Yes, there are things to see and to do, but you'll be driving a bit, depending.Edited: 27 June 2016, 12:22
Porthole café is my favorite lunch stop in Gold Beach. Spectacular scenery South along Highway 101 to about the California border. Bandon to the North is by far my favorite town on the Southern half of the Oregon coast. I would consider going North at least as far as Yachats. Highway 101 between Florence and Yachats is the best scenery on the Oregon coast although the stretch from Bandon to Florence is unremarkable.
Gold Beach is a small town but would be nice base to just hang out with family and relax on the beach. Its a long way from anything so day trips to Redwoods or Bandon and the jet boat would take three of your 5 days- Make sure to stock up on supplies on your way to GB if you are renting a house or need lunch stuff. You'll find the basics in GB but likely more expensive.
We're there due to family event. FYI
We're there due to family function
Thank you for the advice
