We are heading to the NCAA games next Thursday night, we are staying at the Hampton Inn Downtown....is it safe to walk back to the hotel from the Consol Energy Centre after the night games?

You shouldn't have any concerns.... just use the same care you would use in any big city at night - stay together in a group, don't take alleys as short cuts, stay on the major streets, etc. I have walked alone around downtown for 20+ years on occasion after 10/11/12 PM and never once felt uncomfortable.

You will be just fine. For starters that is a very low crime area. Plus there will be tons of people streaming back to town to their parking lots. I would imagine there will be a good police presence too for an event like that.
