Visiting the USS Yorktown with Cub Scouts

I'm taking my son to the USS Yorktown with cub scouts in mid March. We'll be sleeping over on the carrier. Any suggestions for restaurants in the area or other things appropriate for cub scouts/8 year old boys? Thank you.

That sounds great!

Just down Coleman Blvd. is Shem Creek. Red's Ice House has a deck. lots of kid friendly food choices, a nice view of the water, and people bring their dogs. The children might enjoy seeing dolphin and watching the boats go by. Just across the creek is nice boardwalk through the marsh. Have fun! 8 year olds are so cute.

Under the Ravenel Bridge is the Mt. Pleasant Waterfront Park (you access it off the same road you will use to get to Patriots Point)...great place for the kids to burn off some energy and maybe have a huge ship cruise by right in front of them.

Andolini's Pizza is just before you get to Shem Creek on the left side of the road coming from Patriots Point. Great place for kids and pretty good pizza.

Thanks for all you do with scouts and good job!

I didnt know they were still letting children camp at the Yorktown. PLEASE be sure you understand the limitations of the fire and emergency capabilities. This is a state-owned attraction and budget cuts have gone deep into staffing.

Full information on public transit in Mount Pleasant is now available on our website at www.eastccrider.com

You can hike across the Ravenel Bridge on the Wonders Way walkway and then take the #40 bus back to Patriot's Point from the Visitor's Center. That is very popular with scout groups.

Transit trips in the area can now be planned using Google Maps.

A lot of people prefer to take the bus to Charleston and walk back on the Bridge. It's easier to plan that way. Either way you use the same bus. To go into Charleston wait at this bus stop for the #40. https:/…5616433640381132578
