I've followed the flooding coverage from Charleston, and wondering how Kiawah is holding up? We are heading down Friday.
Everything will pretty much be back to "normal" either later today or for sure, by tomorrow, come on down!!!
See the information here: http://www.kiawahisland.org/flooding-warning
There is all sorts of info on the website pertaining to issues over the last 24 hours.
The town has been very good in communicating what's going on. There are still roads, which are closed, but the rain will be leaving us over the next day or so, things will continue to dry up and return to "normal".
Issues should be resolved prior to the end of the week.
Thanks so much. I absolutely love Charleston and we are checking out Kiawah for the first time (and one day in CHL) Kid Free this weekend! So looking forward to it. Thank you for the info.
We are supposed to arrive tomorrow (Monday) ... Any idea if it's possible to access or should we steer clear?
Travel is still restricted on the island, might be better by tomorrow afternoon, I just don't know.
Travel is restricted on John's Island, as well, which you have to cross to get to Kiawah.
It's bad. Roads are closed.
The Town of KI will let us know by mid-morning on Monday, if/when they are reopening the roads.
Access is still very much limited across John's Island.
Kiawah is closed to commercial traffic on Monday.
Our street just about dried out earlier today, it had been about knee deep, last night. Rains, this afternoon, covered the roads, again, although, not to the extent of yesterday.
When it stops raining, things should clear fairly quickly, as they did this morning.
Anyone coming later in the week should not have a problem.
Would be very concerned about travelling there now. Floods mean alligators not likely staying in there ponds.
