Trip with 6 year old

We usually go to Ogunquit late June, but this year are thinking of something different! What airport would we fly into? What hotel would be recommended? The Hampton Inn near the aquarium looks promising. Is this in walking distance to the beach? What is there for us to do besides go to the beach and aquarium? Thanks!

the airport is Myrtle Beach International Airport MYR . The Aquarium is located at Broadway at the Beach which is approximately 1 1/2 miles from the ocean . Myrtle Beach has plenty to do and see just type in things to do in Myrtle Beach on Google and you'll see . Hotel recommendations would depend on what you like to do such as walk to restaurants ? be where the action is ? stay somewhere quiet ?

We would like to walk to restaurants and sightseeing. Is there a trolley system? Don't want to be near partiers.

What's your budget? We typically stay at the Long Bay Resort on the northern end (72nd St. N.), which is away from the heart of the congestion. However, there are quite a few good hotels throughout Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach area. I suggest that you look through the listings and read some reviews and come up with a short list based on your own needs and desires in terms of price, room types and amenities. I don't know much about public transportation as we always have a car, but I can say for sure that there is no trolley or subway system. I've seen it frequently recommended here to have a car if at all possible since the area is so spread out.

"Partiers" are all over so can't guarantee you won't have any at your hotel no matter where you stay. To be within walking distance of restaurants and "sight seeing" most here would recommend staying in the Boardwalk area...which can be a very crowded area especially at the end of June. I would highly advise renting a car and staying at the northern end of MB. All the great attractions, shopping and restaurants are spread out for miles so a car would really make sense.

Long Bay, (as mentioned) Carolina Winds, Kingston Plantation, Island Vista (very quiet area), Dunes Village (good water park)...just to name a few.

Please consider renting a car. Public transportation in Myrtle Beach is not as vast as other destinations. It can be very hot the end of June and you'll appreciate having your own transportation. If you're only staying a weekend and only want the beach that would make no car an option. However with all the attractions spread out you'll want to be able to come and go as you please.

You can also consider flying into Wilmington, NC if you're renting a car. The savings may be enough to help cover the cost of the rental car. Depends on many factors.

Please read the Top Questions on the right side of this page to get a better idea of the many things there are to do here. Seriously, there is so much for all ages here you'll have a hard time fitting everything in!

Read the reviews on the hotels page and consider what your budget is as to where you want to stay. Myrtle Beach is a very popular destination because it offers every type of accommodation. From camping to high end resorts. The prices for such vary greatly.

Agree with the previous poster. You never know where there will be a group of folks celebrating. All age groups come to MB for all reasons. The end of June is the beginning of the busiest time of the year. You will find everyone from families with children, high school and college students out for the summer, golfers, senior citizens, etc.

Check the reviews and then once you have your options narrowed down ask again. We'd love to help you!
