Most attractions are not open quite yet such as bear world. The state and national parks are always open however it gets dicey when it snows. A major highlight of our trip was driving through the state parks and finding different roads to explore. Each bend provided new things such as hidden waterfalls or cool houses. Bring lots of layers because it will be or could be very cold especially at higher elevations. I highly recommend the cave tours. I would do both Wind and Jewel cave because of how different they are. I would also try to go to Mount Rushmore at least two times (once during the day and once at night). The best part about March is the lack of people. The day we went to Mount Rushmore, there were less than 100 people. If there is one place that is a must go to eat it is Black Hill Burger and Bun. If you have any more questions I would love to help you plan your trip. Please also check out some of my reviews from Rapid City to see what we did on our trip.

Will Bear world be open by then?
Edited: 6 years agoBear Country opens the middle of April, weather permitting. Most things will not be open other than those mentioned in #1 above.
