There is a regional airport in Sioux Falls. The airport code is FSD. You will likely have a couple stops in the US before arriving in Sioux Falls, so plan for a long day of flying.

Flights to major hubs, e.g. Chicago, would involve a long drive to Sioux Falls.

It's either fly all of the way or fly to a major city like Chicago or New York and drive the rest of the way. There is no passenger train service in South Dakota and bus service is pretty bad, in more ways that one.

Nearest large airports are Minneapolis (MSP) or Kansas City (MCI).

You might as well fly to Sioux Falls. Kansas City and Minneapolis would have connections like Longhorn said and you still aren't where you want to be.

Thanks for all your replies, I was just checking with hope that there was somewhere near we could travel to and maybe get train on to Sioux Falls. It's such a long journey from Dublin and expensive, nothing I can do about that. Many thanks.

Except for the eastern seaboard, train service in the US isn't very good. It's very limited. Most everyone flies or drives these days.
