Hi, we are planning to bring our kids for a snow trip during the mid June but we are still thinking to go for Mt.Buller or Lake Mt.? We know that Lake Mt. is nearer to Melbourne city but will there be enough snow to let the kids to have fun.

Hard to say. June is pretty fickle, some years there's snow, some not, sometimes it's there for a few days then melts. I would make the decision when you get here based on what the snow reports are.

It's snowing there heavily today according to its live cam.

The easiest way to keep track is to follow the Facebook pages for each ski resort as they all have live webcams and daily reports as to conditions.

Then just play it by ear when you are here.

Agree with the advice that you already have been given. No one can predict if there will be enough snow on Lake Mountain so do check the daily snow reports and snow cams - http://lakemountainresort.com.au/home

Also, do bear in mind that even if the mountains do "make fake snow", it is nothing like the real thing. Fake snow is like little balls of white ice balls. It looks really nice on the ground but you can't make snow ball or a snow man out of it as it does not compact. If snow is your priority, I'd suggest look into Mt Buller too as it is a larger mountain (higher altitude) Hope this helps.

It has been getting colder and colder lately, so if I had to guess, I'd say you would have a chance of seeing snow on Lake Mountain if you come later in June. It would, however, just be a guess!

Also consider Mount Baw Baw and even Mount Donna Buang.

Mt Donna Buang is a stunning mountain but there are basically no facilities on the mountains for tourists. Additionally, you cannot even buy snow chains for your car in Warburton and they do not have any snow cams so it's a bit hard to plan for your day (you have to wait for the info to be loaded on their website) For these reasons, I wouldn't really recommend it for non-locals but for more info, see: https://www.warburtoninfo.com/mount-donna-buang-snow-report.html

As mentioned, it's really been cold lately so you may be lucky to see a good covering of snow on the closest snow mountain - Lake Mountain.

@Chiew our Winter is (generally) runs july-sept, so you MIGHT get lucky. Or you might not. It really depends - September is usually running pretty late in the season tho.
